Willmott Dixon Interiors has been selected to undertake refurbishment work at Brent Civic Centre, located in Wembley Park, London, UK.

The project, awarded through the Procurement Hub framework, aims to enhance 22,600ft² of space, encompassing the site's library, ground-floor customer services, and mezzanine floor.

Procurement Hub senior client relationship manager Andy Peck said: “This is another project that represents a great example of how working with Willmott Dixon Interiors through the Major Projects Framework provides great benefits for the public sector.”

The fit-out specialist's in-house designers have developed a reconfigured interior layout to meet the centre's evolving space requirements.

The refurbishment will make the centre, which opened in 2013, more accessible for wheelchair users, pushchairs, and individuals with complex needs.

Additionally, the project will introduce a new main entrance and welcome desk, as well as a reimagined mezzanine floor featuring a flexible, multiuse library with increased study spaces.

A new entrance on Exhibition Way, adjacent to supermarket Sainsbury’s, and a revamped customer waiting area, are also part of the planned improvements.

The ground floor will include a dedicated customer area where visitors can engage with various Hubs and Customer Service staff.

This area will include additional meeting rooms.

Willmott Dixon Interiors senior operations manager Neil Adams said: “Brent Council recognises the importance of responding to the changing needs of those using its facilities. The Civic Centre is an important community resource and this project has been purposely designed to ensure it continues to deliver a positive experience for everyone.

“We’ll be repurposing the space to provide better public access, with open spaces that are not only more welcoming, but are easier to find and navigate too.”

The refurbishment of Brent Civic Centre is the result of a comprehensive review of how visitors and residents use the centre's services.

The review included consultations with more than 500 residents, staff focus groups, and surveys.

This comes after Willmott Dixon Interiors announced a £4.4m ($5.59m) refurbishment project for historic buildings in the London Borough of Sutton in England.
