BMW Group to construct new Talent Campus in Munich

The structure will be built primarily from wood for an extended lifespan.

December 05 2023

BMW Group has announced its plans to build an advanced Talent Campus in Munich, Germany.

This new building will be constructed on the location of the former car park in Riesenfeldstraße, north-east of the home plant.

This new structure, alongside the site's existing facilities and training spaces, will constitute an open campus offering training and education for BMW's approximately 40,000 Munich-based staff members, including 900 trainees.

Furthermore, it will include a staff restaurant and a public café.

BMW Plant Munich director Peter Weber said: “BMW Group Plant Munich is currently preparing to produce the Neue Klasse, and our employees will be crucial to its success.

“With the new centre, we are creating the infrastructure needed to ready specialists in every area of car production for the future.”

Scheduled to open for business in 2025, the Talent Campus will be constructed primarily of wood, which will extend the structure’s life since it may be modified to meet future demands without extensive construction work.

The goal is to make some areas on the campus open for public training classes.

BMW AG General Works Council chair Martin Kimmich said: “The BMW AG Works Council has long been committed to this Talent Campus, and we are delighted that our vision is now becoming a reality, with construction about to start.

“Given the lack of skilled workers, investments in training and education are key for the future viability of our company.”
