United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based private developer Azizi Developments has signed a new agreement with International Foundation Group (IFG) to support the construction of the Burj Azizi skyscraper in the region.

The collaboration will see IFG handling the foundational groundwork of the project, including piling, shoring, dewatering, and excavation, with the project forecast to become the world's second-tallest building.

Burj Azizi, located on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road, is expected to be completed within the next four years, by 2028.

It is projected to become a landmark on Dubai's skyline, attracting residents and tourists.

Burj Azizi will house a vertical shopping centre, a seven-star hotel, an observation deck, and various luxury residences.

According to a blog post by Azizi Developments in March 2024, the project, which features an investment of $1.5bn, is designed to offer luxurious amenities to its occupants.

The exact height reveal of Burj Azizi is still pending approval from the relevant authorities.

Construction has already commenced and is set to be a neighbour to Dubai's World Trade Centre.

Zawya quoted Azizi Developments CEO Farhad Azizi as saying: “Our strategic partnership with International Foundation Group for the critical piling, shoring, excavation, and dewatering operations for Burj Azizi is one that excites us very much.

“This collaboration underscores our dedication to excellence and innovation in delivering iconic projects that elevate the standards of excellence not only in the UAE’s - but also in the world’s - construction and real estate landscape.”

IFG is an Emirati company with expertise in deep foundation and ground solutions. It specialises in microtunnelling in the Middle East and utilises advanced equipment from European and Japanese manufacturers.

It offers a range of services, including non-disruptive road crossings, retaining walls, piled foundations, as well as soil improvement, delivering solutions to address various construction challenges.
