Atwell, a national consulting, engineering, and construction services company, has acquired Biscayne Engineering, a company specialising in engineering and surveying.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Founded in 1898, Biscayne Engineering has evolved from a partnership between two surveyors to a company offering engineering, surveying, and geographic information system mapping services.

Atwell president Matthew Bissett said: “Biscayne brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for building the future. We’re excited to work with their team and grow together. It is the shared level of expertise and commitment to client satisfaction that makes Biscayne and Atwell a great fit.”

The latest move marks Atwell's first office in Miami and strengthens its footprint in Florida, adding more than 50 employees to its workforce.

Atwell has expanded through both organic development and strategic acquisitions across the US in recent years.

The latest deal is the third acquisition for Atwell in 2024, and the second in Florida.

Biscayne president Mike Bartholomew said: “Biscayne Engineering has been providing unparalleled professional services to South Florida since Miami’s very early days. Atwell, like Biscayne, has a long history and both firms share a common vision.

“By joining Atwell, we will be able to provide a broader range of services to our existing clientele and expand our reach. In addition, the members of our team will have an amazing opportunity to grow professionally. We are excited for the future.”

Earlier in January this year, Atwell acquired BEI Engineering Group for an undisclosed amount.

In the same month, Atwell also took over Karins and Associates, a Delaware-based company specialising in engineering, surveying, and planning in the US.
