Finnish construction company YIT has entered into a contract with real estate business Asuntosäätiö for the construction of a residential building in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki, Finland.

Worth approximately €16m to YIT, the project will be entered in its order bookings for the third quarter of this year.

The state-subsidised residential building will measure roughly 7,200m² in gross size and will include 82 housing rights units, as well as one street-level commercial space.

The top section of the structure will feature eight floors while the ground part will hold six.

Solar panels will be installed on the roof of the property while its outside walls will be encased with shell components.

Furthermore, the apartment block will provide multifunctional storage, laundry and drying rooms, a sorting room, and a basic sauna with a patio. The parking garage will include 39 parking spots for residents alongside two communal parking spaces.

Construction work will commence this month and is expected for completion in April 2025.

Arkkitehdit NRT will be in charge of the design for this site.

The six- to eight-storey skyscraper is being built with flats ranging in size from studio to five-room unit floor plans.

Asuntosäätiö development director Turkka Keravuori said: “It’s great to be able to promote a versatile housing offer in the popular Jätkäsaari area.

“Building right-of-occupancy apartments in a central location in Helsinki supports our strategy’s goal of offering durable and reasonably priced homes along good transport links.”
