Ashghal, the Public Works Authority of Qatar, has started construction of the Qatar Sidra Academy project in Education City.

The project, which will be developed in partnership with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, aims to accommodate approximately 1,800 students.

The academy will span a total area of 74,000m², with a built-up area of 33,000m².

The academy's main building will be two storeys high, featuring classrooms, lecture halls, administrative offices, and reception areas.

According to Ahmed Al-Mahmeed, head of the Public Projects Section, the project is expected to be completed by the second quarter (Q2) of 2026.

He noted that about 60% of the materials used in the project will be locally sourced.

Al-Mahmeed also emphasised the commitment to applying the highest local and international standards in health and safety, quality, and technology.

The Building Projects Department has utilised advanced digital technologies such as building information modelling to ensure smooth implementation and prevent technical challenges.

Designed to reflect Qatar's cultural heritage and identity, the academy aligns with Qatari values and traditions.

The design conforms to the Global Sustainability Assessment System, aiming for a three-star environmental quality rating, incorporating energy and water conservation technologies.

The project will use nontoxic, low-emission materials, all adhering to fire safety standards.
