Asahi Kasei Homes has finalised an agreement to acquire 100% ownership of ODC Construction, a Florida-based subcontractor specialising in residential construction.
The acquisition, completed on 29 August 2024 through a US subsidiary, marks an expansion of Asahi Kasei Homes' footprint in the North American market.
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
The move aligns with Asahi Kasei Homes' focus on strengthening its business of order-built unit homes in Japan while identifying North American and Australian operations as key for additional growth.
This strategy is encapsulated in the Asahi Kasei Group’s '10 Growth Gears', a component of its medium-term management plan themed 'Be a Trailblazer.'
Synergos Companies, the holding company for Asahi Kasei Homes' North American business, is set to enhance productivity and quality across manufacturing and construction sites.
This is expected to be particularly in Arizona and Nevada, US.
Synergos will use its expertise in construction process management and integrate key subcontractors to optimise the construction process.
These subcontractors include Erickson Framing Operations and Focus Companies, suppliers of building components, Austin Companies, a residential electrical, concrete, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning group, and Brewer Companies, among others.
ODC Construction's operations in Florida, US, encompass framing and foundation work.
The partnership between Asahi Kasei Homes and ODC is expected to create synergies, enhancing the efficiency and quality of construction work by combining their respective expertise.
In July this year, Asahi Kasei's board of directors resolved to merge with its wholly owned subsidiary, Asahi Finance, through an absorption-type merger.
