ADS to build pipe manufacturing facility in Lake Wales

The factory is set to leverage ADS' automated technology used to manufacture corrugated thermoplastic pipes.

November 03 2023

American water management solutions provider Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) is set to construct a new advanced pipe manufacturing facility in Lake Wales, Florida, US.

The construction project is scheduled to begin next year with a ground-breaking ceremony to be held on a 100-acre site.

ADS president and CEO Scott Barbour said: “We have experienced significant growth in Florida and the Southeast [US] in recent years, and this facility will help us meet our commitments in the region while giving us the flexibility to expand further as we continue to grow.

“ADS is committed to protecting water and supporting communities where we operate, and we are looking forward to further partnership with the City of Lake Wales and area residents.”

The facility will leverage the company’s advanced automated technology used for corrugated thermoplastic pipe manufacture.

Located approximately 60 miles south of Orlando in Central Florida, the site will supplement ADS’s existing production plants located in the cities of Sebring and Winter Garden.

Both these facilities will continue to function as normal, supplying stormwater products to customers across Florida and Southeast US.

Barbour added: “Large-scale stormwater-related natural disasters are occurring more frequently and with higher intensity. These events underpin the need for innovative stormwater management solutions that meet the challenges we face today.

"Water is a precious and finite resource we must protect, and this facility will enable us to continue to do so.”

Investment in the infrastructure and energy & utilities sectors remains a major driver of overall construction growth

Infrastructure and Energy & Utilities sectors expanded in 2020 despite COVID-19 disruptions, which reflected the efforts by governments and public institutions to accelerate investment to stimulate activity. The recovery from the pandemic and the easing of restrictions allowed the resumption of work on major projects in 2021, and growth is set to remain strong in the coming years, particularly given major investment programs in the US and China.
