The City of Edinburgh Council has made a £10m ($12.67m) investment in Brunstane Primary School in Edinburgh, Scotland, which is set to become one of the city's most environmentally friendly educational institutions.
Graham will lead the construction efforts, aimed at retrofitting the campus.
The retrofit includes a comprehensive overhaul of the school's infrastructure.
The three-storey tower housing 12 classrooms and the single-storey southern block with eight classrooms will see improvements such as new cladding, window replacements, and updated floor finishes.
These enhancements are designed to enable the school to achieve carbon-neutral operations.
The school's green transformation also involves the installation of an air-source heat pump and an electric heating system to replace the existing gas network. Further boosting the school's sustainability, photovoltaic panels will be added to the roof of the tower block.
These initiatives are in line with the City of Edinburgh Council's goal to become a net-zero city by 2030.
Accessibility improvements are also a key component of the retrofit. The removal of existing steps and the introduction of new ramps will make the school more accessible.
The project, which commenced work last month, is expected to be completed by late 2025.
City of Edinburgh Council Education, Children and Families convener and councillor Joan Griffiths said: “We have over 100 schools supporting thousands of pupils and we’re making every effort to make sure they are as welcoming, accessible, and sustainable as possible.
"Our £10m investment in Brunstane Primary is a perfect example of this work, with energy-efficiency improvements and repairs planned for the whole building."
During the extensive construction work, the school, which serves the communities of Brunstane and Portobello and has a current roll of 263 students, will remain operational. Temporary classrooms will be installed to guarantee that education continues without interruption.
GRAHAM, a privately owned company with a network of 16 regional offices and over 2,000 staff, has an annual turnover of £1.09bn.
Earlier this month, the company was selected by Greystar for the Stratford Mill residential project in East London, UK.
