Finnish construction firm YIT has secured a contract worth €24m from Makita to construct office and warehouse facilities in Tallinn, Estonia.
To be built in the Gate Tallinn industrial park near Saagri in Saue Parish, the two-storey property will have around 23,500m2 of surface area.
The new property will also feature a training centre, maintenance and test facilities, and showrooms.
Makita OY Estonia CEO Seiji Tanizawa said: “We are looking forward to new premises. There will be test rooms inside the house for testing concrete, wood and metal tools, and there will also be an outdoor beam where garden and forestry equipment can be tested. The new building will provide jobs for up to 100 people.”
The project will also include installation of solar panels on the property’s roof and a solar park in its vicinity.
YIT stated that the new project will be developed to meet the Class A energy requirements.

By GlobalDataConstruction work on the new project is scheduled to commence in January next year, with completion expected in April 2023.
YIT Eesti Construction head Reimo Ehrstein said: “This year has proved that well-thought-out energy solutions are critical for sustainable operations.
“It is good to see that the private sector is clearly aware of its responsibility to the environment and is already able to ask for better solutions.
“All the energy left over from the building’s own consumption goes to the electricity grid, which is an exemplary example of how one building can make the living environment better for everyone.”
Recently, YIT and Sirius Capital Partners have entered a project management contract to renovate the properties at Korkeavuorenkatu 32-34 in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area of Finland.
