YIT has received a €11m contract from the Central Finland Student Housing Foundation to construct a new student apartment building in Jyväskylä, Finland.
Located in the centre of Jyväskylä, it is claimed to be the first project to be developed as part of the new Tourulan Pajala town plan area.
With approximately 4,500m² of floor space, the seven-storey building will feature 121 apartments, as well as a lounge and sauna facilities.
Construction is set to commence in September this year, with the project anticipated to conclude by the end of next year.
The entire block’s underground parking facility construction will begin simultaneously alongside the other block’s components, being built in sections.
A shared courtyard will be constructed above the parking facility.

It will also feature carbon-negative ceiling boards in its communal areas and a boiler system in the heat distribution room.
YIT area manager Marjaana Nissilä-Ryytty said: “Designed in the spirit of the historical industrial setting, the new, modern residential and business area of Pajala will become an innovative, eco-smart neighbourhood with a central location in Tourula in the heart of Jyväskylä.
“The courtyard of the first apartment building to be built in the area will feature a meadow that will also retain stormwater.
“We prepared a design-phase, integrated life-cycle estimate for the project to help guide the design and structural solutions.”
