Finland-based construction and building company YIT has emerged as a winner of the Helsinki High-rise Design-Build Competition for a development project in Pasila, Helsinki.
Finnish Government organisation Senate Properties and the City of Helsinki collaboratively organised the Helsinki High-rise competition to design and develop the Pasila Tower Area and find an implementer for the Start-Up Area.
The Tower Area will be established in the Start-Up Area, with construction expected to commence during 2020 and 2021. YIT will now sign a contract to acquire the project’s launch area.
YIT’s proposal ‘Trigoni’ features nine tower buildings on the south of Pasila Bridge, of which two towers in the Start-Up Area will have 51 and 40 storeys respectively. The value of the area is around €500m.
Senate Properties CEO Jari Sarjo said: “The excellent result of the Helsinki High-rise Competition shows once again the strength of sincere co-operation between the City of Helsinki, the Finnish State and private companies.
“The aim of Central Pasila construction is to improve the competitiveness of Helsinki and the entire Helsinki metropolitan area.
“Its location, near to the Helsinki central business district, is not only a major public transport crossroads but also a direct connection with the Helsinki Airport, creating optimal conditions.”
In addition, the Start-Up Area can have 67,000m² of floor area comprising commercial premises, office spaces and homes.
The complete Tower Area comprises 150,000m² to 200,000m² of floor area featuring residential, commercial and office premises.
