YIT has signed a deal worth more than €11m ($11.58m) with TA-Asumisoikeus for the construction of Asumisoikeus Jyväskylän Hahlo 3 and 7 in the Tourula district of Jyväskylä, Finland.
The project, which will commence next month, is set to be finalised in early 2026 and will be recorded in YIT’s order book for the last quarter of this year.
The contract encompasses the development of approximately 3,500m² of floor space, accommodating a total of 47 apartments.
The construction plan includes two residential buildings – a two-storey semidetached house and an apartment building with four- and five-storey sections connected by a two-storey part. Additionally, a parking facility is part of the project.
The development aims to enhance biodiversity with the creation of meadows in the yard areas to support insect habitats and the planting of trees to attract birds.
YIT regional director Marjaana Nissilä-Ryytty said: “The construction of the Tourula’s Pajala district began last year, and I am glad that we can now start the next project in the new city centre that is emerging in Jyväskylä. Both residential and business spaces have been zoned for the area.”

By GlobalDataThe district of Tourula, known for its culturally and historically significant environment, will feature car-free zones and quality shared yard spaces.
Pajala’s district is well-connected, with pedestrian and cycling routes and public transport links, making personal vehicles unnecessary for daily activities.
The city centre and Seppälä district’s diverse services are within walking distance. Meanwhile, the former rifle factory area is recognised as a nationally valuable built environment.
TA-Asumisoikeus regional director Markku Vartiainen said: “This project is an example of a new type of urban living. As a form of housing, the right-of-occupancy housing makes for flexible accommodation, allowing room for dreams and offering security for the future.
“The location of the area is great; close to the city centre, all the amenities and excellent transport connections, so you do not even need a car as you can easily manage without one in Pajala in Tourula.”
This contract follows an earlier agreement signed by YIT with TA-Asumisoikeus in October this year for a €9m domestic apartment building project in Tampere.
Earthworks are already underway on this project, with an expected completion date in October 2025.
