YIT has signed a contract valued at approximately €11m ($11.4m) with A-Kruunu to construct a rental building in the Kangas urban development area in Jyväskylä, Finland.
This project will be subsidised by the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA) and enhance the city’s sustainability goals.
The contract will be included in YIT’s order book for the fourth quarter. The project will be finalised in January 2026.
The new eight-storey building will be located on Rullakuja 3, featuring apartments across seven floors. The ground floor is designated for commercial space, resident common areas, and storage facilities.
Spanning around 3,700m2, the building is designed to meet energy class A standards and will be equipped with solar panels.
A-Kruunu construction director Leena Aho-Manninen said: “It is great that we are able to carry out this project involving the construction of a communal, ambitiously designed area. The role of Ara production is now particularly important as the economic situation in housing construction remains bleak in Jyväskylä.”

By GlobalDataThe architectural concept of the building is inspired by the historical Kangas paper mill. This development is part of the broader Kangas urban project, involving innovative urban planning and sustainable construction practices.
YIT regional director Marjaana Nissilä-Ryytty said: “The Kangas area offers an excellent location next to the centre of Jyväskylä, and YIT is one of the district’s constructors. I am glad that we will be able to continue our long-term collaboration with A-Kruunu and build new A energy class apartments for it.”
The strategic location of Kangas offers residents easy access to the Tourujoki recreational and nature conservation area, as well as the amenities of the city centre and Seppälä.
In October this year, YIT signed a contract valued at approximately €9m ($9.76m) with TA-Asumisoikeus for a domestic apartment building project in Tampere.
