Finnish construction company YIT and the municipality of Juva have signed a €30m contract for the Juva school campus, which would be built on the site of the current school centre.
The campus is planned to be built using the lifecycle model, which ensures that the completed premises are safe and healthy.
Due to system maintenance and optimised energy efficiency, the building’s carbon footprint can be kept low.
Under the terms of the contract, YIT will be responsible for the planning, building and maintenance of the campus for 20 years.
The company’s maintenance period will start upon completion of the construction in December 2020.
Juva municipal manager Mervi Simoska said: “In the selection of the constructor, particular attention was paid to the functionality of the premises, the architectural solutions and the environmental targets.

YIT business premises executive vice-president Esa Neuvonen said: “In the project model, the lifecycle of the property is viewed as a whole, not just by focusing on the investment cost.”
YIT will focus on the design of innovative space solutions that enable diverse forms of learning and working.
