Cybersecurity company WithSecure’s new headquarters has been successfully completed in Wood City, Jätkäsaari, Finland.
Developed by SRV, this mainly timber-framed building aligns with the EU’s new taxonomy.
SRV Helsinki Metropolitan Area business premises unit Mira Alatalo said: “The completion of WithSecure’s office also marks the successful completion of the Wood City wooden quarter.
“This is both a unique construction project and a flagship for Finnish wood construction that we’ve been developing for a decade. The quarter has also attracted plenty of interest internationally, and it’s been a delight to add more life cycle-wise buildings to our city.”
The seven-storey office building, owned by German real estate investment company Union Investment, spans approximately 8,700m² and includes a basement.
Designed by Anttinen Oiva Architects, the building was constructed to meet WithSecure’s specific requirements.

By GlobalDataThe company is expected to relocate to these energy-efficient premises by late 2024.
WithSecure chief people officer Charlotte Guillou said: “The new premises will provide the best possible environment for boosting creativity and interaction in pleasant and comfortable surroundings. In Wood City, we’re building a more sustainable society.”
Construction of the building used approximately 600 tonnes of wood, which is said to have resulted in a carbon handprint of 6kg.
The building’s structure is supported by 197 glued-laminated pillars and 313 cross-laminated timber (CLT) slabs for the intermediate floors.
The facade features about a kilometre of Accoya wood panels while the lobby has a sculptural ceiling crafted from 46m³ of spruce CLT panels.
The office will optimise and recycle energy, with more than 200m² of solar panels installed on its roof.
SRV is pursuing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum environmental certification for the building, which has an energy class A rating.
Construction began with excavation in mid-2022, with the timber frame installation commencing in March 2023 and completed within twelve weeks.
The wooden facade installation began subsequently in June 2023.
During the peak period of construction, the site employed approximately 100 workers, with around 1,300 employees receiving site onboarding.
Last month, SRV received a turnkey agreement from Patolan Kulma to build a student apartment complex in the Oulunkylä district of Helsinki.
