UK-based Winvic Construction has been selected by DSV, a transport and logistics firm, to design, construct and partially fit out its new industrial facility at Mercia Park in North West Leicestershire.

Winvic has started the on-site work in October and the project is expected to be completed by the end of August next year.

The facility will comprise of three buildings and 34 dock levellers.

A 358,000ft2 steel-framed warehouse will have three mezzanine floors and two single-storey hub offices totalling 4,360ft2; a 112,000 ft2 cross-dock terminal, which will feature a 7,050 ft2 single-storey hub office and a 35,660ft2 three-storey office building.

Under the contract, Winvic will be responsible for fitting out all of the office spaces to meet DSV’s global design standards.

The design features would include a glass lift, wood-panelled walls with an oak finish and a feature staircase.

The external work package would include 381,700ft2 yard space. This will also include car parking for 406 vehicles. The programme will contain all drainage, retaining wall and hard and soft landscaping works.

Last month, Winvic was appointed by IM Properties to undertake the civil and infrastructure works at the 238-acre employment park, which is located adjacent to junction 11 of the M42.

The project has been selected to be the first of two schemes where the Computer-Vision-SMART technology will be developed. As part of this, AI-enabled cameras will be placed around the site and the operatives will receive alerts through an app which will warn them of nearby hazards to health and safety in real-time.
