Winvic Construction has announced the practical completion of Panattoni Doncaster 420, a net-zero carbon industrial facility in Yorkshire, UK, for Panattoni.
The project, which began in April of the previous year, now offers a 417,500ft² logistics warehouse that has achieved energy performance certificate A and Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Excellent ratings.

The facility includes a 397,375ft² warehouse with 35 docks and three level access doors, a 15,895ft² three-storey main office, and a 4,000ft² two-storey hub office.
Additionally, Winvic constructed an 85m deep yard with parking for 74 heavy goods vehicles and 358 cars, with 20% of the spaces with electric charging stations.
Despite early challenges such as the wettest March on record and the need for archaeological investigations due to the site’s former Ministry of Defence status, Winvic managed to keep the project on track.
The construction process included a rapid steel frame erection, with 1,400 million tonnes installed in seven weeks using up to five mobile cranes simultaneously.

By GlobalDataThe steel frame, measuring 242m x 153m, contains an average of 26% recycled content.
Sustainability features comprise 100% recycled content in the rebar reinforcement, a 100% recycled polythene slip, and 36% GGBS content in the concrete foundations.
The roof, designed to accommodate up to 100% photovoltaic, features 15% skylights while the aluminium framework on the glazing contains 40% recycled content, and the glass itself includes 25%.
A surface water drainage system ensures no surface water is discharged from the site.
Winvic installed an underground soakaway attenuation tank beneath the main car park, featuring six interconnected perforated steel pipes, which were each 167m long and 2.4m in diameter.
These pipes enable collected surface water to soak into the surrounding ground.
In collaboration with Panattoni, the City of Doncaster Council and its supply chain, Winvic also delivered an Employment and Skills Plan, contributing to local community development.
