UK-based construction services provider Willmott Dixon has secured work on two transformative projects worth more than £100m in Rochdale, UK.
The first project is the second phase of the £400m Rochdale regeneration programme, which is being delivered by Rochdale Development Agency on behalf of Rochdale Borough Council, in collaboration with Genr8 Developments and Kajima.
Willmott Dixon delivered the first phase of the major regeneration scheme that included 200,000ft² of retail and leisure accommodation in the centre of the town.
Now, the company has been awarded a £2.7m contract to ready the site before commencing the main construction work, which is scheduled in next spring.
The Rochdale Riverside Phase 2 will include 220 apartments for rent, which will be in a mix of one- and two-bedroom units, and a hotel on land which is now used as car parking off Baillie Street and John Street.
Rochdale Borough Council leader Allen Brett said: “The delivery of high-quality new homes to serve our growing population and attract new residents is a vital part of our strategy to transform the borough, which has already seen the successful opening of a new shopping and leisure complex, the delivery of world-class heritage projects like the reopening of the River Roch and much more.

The second project is the Neighbourhood Rochdale development for which Willmott Dixon will work as a construction partner for Capital & Centric.
The project involves the redevelopment of the former Central Retail Park into a community, which will comprise 200 spacious and low carbon homes, a linear park and a community hub.
Willmott Dixon managing director in the North Anthony Dillon said: “We are proud to be appointed to these exciting projects, which continue our part in reinvigorating Rochdale. Both developments will be a blueprint for vital town centre regeneration across the UK; attracting inward investment into this community.”
