Willmott Dixon, a UK-based property developer, has been selected by Woking Borough Council for the construction of Hale End Court, an independent living and extra care housing facilities in Surrey, the UK.

The Hale End Court will be a four-storey building with a mix of 48 one and two-bedroom flats. The facilities are designed to ensure that residents can live independently while they are offered support in need.

The contract was procured through the Southern Construction Framework (SCF).

According to Willmott Dixon, each apartment will have a fully equipped kitchen, along with offering residents access to community amenities such as shared kitchen, living and dining space, a landscaped outdoor courtyard for recreational activities.

The developer is working with HNW Architects and Turner & Townsend to provide project management.

Woking Borough Council’s Living Well and Wellbeing Services portfolio holder Simon Ashall said: “With the average age of the population rising steadily, we have a significant need in the borough for more suitable, affordable dwellings that our most vulnerable elderly neighbours can call home.

“We are delighted that funding has been identified to build a new facility for this purpose on disused land in Old Woking, allowing more people to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible, in comfort and with the peace of mind that help is never far away should they require it.”

The new building is expected to be completed by the end of September 2021.

Willmott Dixon London and the South director Ian Edwards said: “Hale End Court is a fantastic scheme that will give its new residents a great sense of comfort, community, security and a place to call home.”

Recently, the company was selected for the construction of 94 homes for people above the age of 55 at Bristol Court for London Borough of Hounslow and the new Winwood Heights retirement village for Nottingham City Homes.

It had also started work on the Watkins House in Harrow to develop 58 extra-care apartments for Harrow Churches Housing Association and Octavia.
