British company Willmott Dixon has secured a contract to construct a total of 83 new homes in Doncaster, marking a continuation of their extensive experience in building homes within South Yorkshire.

The contract, which has been awarded by the City of Doncaster Council, involves the development of properties across four different sites.

The procurement of this contract was facilitated through the “YORBuild” framework, a system designed to efficiently and collaboratively deliver construction projects.

This framework aids local authorities and other public sector organisations in streamlining their construction procurement processes.

As part of the project, the company will focus on the construction of 21 homes at King Edward Road in Balby, 48 homes at Cedar Road in Balby, four homes at Edlington Lane in Edlington, and ten homes at Goodison Boulevard in Cantley.

Homes at King Edward Road and Edlington Lane are anticipated for completion by the next year summer.

Meanwhile, the Cedar Road and Goodison Boulevard developments are expected to be finished in early 2026.

These new developments will be particularly notable as they will be the first ‘gas free’ homes constructed by City of Doncaster Council, marking a significant step towards sustainable living initiatives, Willmott Dixon said.

City of Doncaster Council Housing and Business cabinet member and Deputy Mayor Cllr Glyn Jones said: “I am delighted that a further 83 affordable homes will be built across Doncaster.

“We have worked alongside our partners at Willmott Dixon over a variety of exciting projects and the standard of housing delivered is always of the highest standard.

“I look forward to seeing these innovative new projects come to life, and welcoming new residents to their new homes.”

Prior to receiving this contract, Willmott Dixon’s has also worked on projects for the City of Doncaster Council, delivering a variety of affordable housing options ranging from one to four-bedroom family homes and bungalows.
