Whitworth University in Washington, the US, is set to proceed with plans for the construction of a new three-storey health sciences building designed by NAC Architecture.
According to an environmental review recently filed by the company with the Washington state Department of Ecology, the 38,000ft² health sciences building at 300 W Hawthorne Road will be built in place of the existing facilities services building and garages on the university property.

Walker Construction will serve as the contractor for the project, on which construction is expected to conclude by November next year, The Spokesman-Review reported.
Once completed, the building will serve as home to undergraduate health sciences and the athletic training programme, among others.
Last December, Whitworth University received $19.5m in bonds from the Washington Higher Education Facilities Authority (WHEFA) for building the health science building.
The financing is estimated to save the university almost $500,000 in interest over the life of the bond on a present-value basis, according to Whitworth University.
Whitworth University finance and administration vice-president Larry Probus said that the university is looking forward to building the facility as a strategic investment.
Probus further added that the facility will be a benefit to its students and to Eastern Washington, in particular to the medical community in the Spokane area.
In January, Whitworth University announced the planned addition of a new 7,000ft², $3.1m café and bookstore, designed by Accelerated.
Furthermore, the university plans to build a new $5m trades and facilities building on the west side of campus.
