Webuild’s US subsidiary Lane has secured a $223m design-and-build contract to boost the safety and operational efficiency of the I-275/I-4 highway interchange in Tampa, Florida, US.
This highway interchange is used by 200,000 vehicles daily.
It also emphasises the importance of North America as a core market for Webuild, responsible for 21% of the Group’s consolidated revenues in 2021 amid promises of further growth as the U.S. government rolls out major investment plans for the infrastructure sector.
The contract, which has commissioned by the Florida Department of Transportation, will boost the interchange’s role in helping the I-275/I-4 serve as a main hurricane evacuation route for the greater Tampa Bay area.
The work under the contract involves widening, changing and realigning ramps; updating signage; and erecting noise barriers.
Construction is slated to commence in 2023.
