Vistry Group, a provider of mixed-tenure homes, and the UK’s privately owned house builder Bloor Homes have collaborated on the development of a new community at Leighton West in Crewe, Cheshire, UK.
This development, part of Cheshire East’s Local Plan, aims to create a sustainable neighbourhood with 791 new homes.
Vistry will contribute 408 homes to the project, with 208 of these being forward-sold to Plus Dane Housing, a housing provider, for affordable housing provision.
The remaining 200 homes will be made available on the open market under Vistry’s brands, namely Linden Homes and Bovis Homes.
Meanwhile, Bloor Homes will deliver 383 homes on the site, with 39 designated as affordable.
The community will offer public amenities such as allotments, community orchards, and various recreational spaces.
The development is set to enhance local amenities with a £5.6m ($7.12m) investment, which will fund the creation of a community hub, a pub, a nursery, and a primary school site, among others.
Additional funding will improve cycle links, highway works, National Health Service support, and Travel Plan monitoring.
Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East managing director Joe Turner said: “Leighton West will not only address the local demand for high-quality housing, including affordable homes, but will also deliver a host of community benefits – from green spaces to new commercial, retail, and educational facilities – helping to create a vibrant, sustainable neighbourhood for Crewe.”
Plus Dane Housing growth director Siobhan Moore said: “We have really expanded our footprint in Crewe over the past few years with more than 150 homes in the nearby Alexandra Gardens development still being completed.
“We are excited about the Leighton West plans which include a variety of public facilities and interesting outdoor spaces. This new neighbourhood is going to be a vibrant place to live and bring up a family. We are delighted to be part of that vision.”
Earlier this month, Vistry Group partnered with Clarion Housing Group’s development arm Latimer to add 1,200 homes to the Sherford new town development near Plymouth, UK.
