Vistry Group and Bloor Homes have gained planning permission for a housing development in Leighton West, Crewe, UK, which will see the construction of 826 new homes.

The approval was granted by Cheshire East Council’s Strategic Planning Board, following the initial outline planning permission received in 2020.

The development is divided into four reserved matters applications across eight parcels of residential land.

Bloor Homes regional managing director James Clark said: “We are delighted to have achieved these reserved matters approvals which will allow us, together with our delivery partners Vistry, to deliver the much-needed homes on this important strategic site.

“The site at Leighton West is one of the largest site allocations in Cheshire East’s Local Plan and will offer considerable benefits to the local community.”

Included in the plans are 84 affordable houses and 12ha of land dedicated to green infrastructure and landscaping.

The new planned public spaces will feature allotments, community orchards, footpaths, cycleways, and outdoor gyms, among others.

Furthermore, the development will contribute £5.6m ($7.26m) towards local community services and facilities.

This fund will support a range of improvements, including the provision of a fully serviced and level site for a primary school, and more.

Construction is anticipated to commence in early 2025, with the first homes expected to be occupied by early 2026.

Earlier this month, Vistry Group entered into an agreement with Metropolitan Thames Valley (MTVH).

This deal will deliver 122 new homes across three developments in the East Midlands region of England, including a forward purchase by MTVH of 90 homes in Nottinghamshire.
