VinFast Auto, the Vietnam-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has broken ground on its new assembly plant in Subang, West Java, Indonesia.  

The ground-breaking ceremony was marked by the presence of VinFast Indonesia CEO Temmy Wiradjaja and Vingroup‘s senior advisor to chair Nguyen Duc Thanh, among others.

The Subang facility represents an investment of approximately $200m.  

With an annual production capacity set for 50,000 EVs, the plant will encompass various production areas, including a Body Shop, General Assembly Shop, Paint Shop, and a testing area. 

Operations at the VinFast EV assembly plant are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2025.

Additionally, the project is forecast to contribute to the promotion of eco-friendly transportation in Indonesia. 

Earlier in February this year, VinFast initiated the construction of its first integrated EV manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India, with plans to achieve an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles.
