Veidekke has secured a contract from Tyresö Municipality to construct a new preschool in Bollmora, near Stockholm, Sweden.
The facility, designed to accommodate 160 children, represents a significant investment in the community’s educational infrastructure, with a contract value of approximately Skr125m ($12.5m).
It will be built adjacent to the Bergfotens school in central Tyresö and aims to address the need for increased permanent preschool capacity under municipal management.
The contract encompasses construction, including a schoolyard and surrounding outdoor areas, aligning with the municipality’s vision for modern teaching environments that promote learning in smaller groups.
The preschool’s design features a two-floor, L-shaped structure with a cross-laminated wood framework, to be erected on a concrete slab.
Veidekke is currently collaborating with the municipality to finalise the construction start date and establish a detailed project timeline.

By GlobalDataCurrently, construction is scheduled to commence this month, with the goal of completing the project by November 2026.
This contract has been included in Veidekke’s fourth-quarter 2024 order book.
The Scandinavian contractor engages in a range of building and civil engineering projects. It also provides road maintenance works and the production of asphalt and aggregates.
Earlier this month, Veidekke secured another major contract from Fornebubanen to build new metro stations at Lysaker and Vækerø in Norway.
This contract, valued at roughly Nkr1.8bn excluding VAT, is set to kick off in February 2025, with completion expected by mid-2028.
Veidekke’s Linus Wåhlin said: “We look forward to working closely with the municipality to build a preschool for Tyresö’s smallest citizens. Our team are experienced school builders and understand the importance of taking into account all who are out and about in the area during construction, especially pupils at the school next door.
“Naturally, our highest priority is safety around the construction site.”
