Veidekke has already completed the foundation, groundworks, and basement floors for the project.

Scheduled for completion in 2027, Mariakvartalet will feature two-, three-, and four-room apartments across 11 storeys.

Each unit will include a balcony, roof terrace, or garden plot, with additional access to communal gazebos and a large city garden with diverse social zones.

The project has been designed by Lund+Slaatto Arkitekter.

It will be environmentally certified to Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method-NOR’s Very Good standard and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20%.

The construction site adheres to fossil-free practices and strict waste separation and reduction protocols.

The contract, part of Veidekke’s third-quarter order book, is part of a larger Nkr1.037bn agreement finalised in January 2023.

Veidekke Oslo department manager Morten Barreth said: “We are pleased with the renewed confidence shown in us and that we can continue to develop Bjørvika in partnership with OSU.

“We greatly appreciate a customer who places such high demands on both quality and the environment. We have had an excellent partnership so far, and are very pleased with the construction process and production from the moment the project started up just over a year ago.”

OSU intends to award Veidekke an additional contract to complete the remaining portion of the quarter.

OSU project director Jostein Ådalen said: “Collaboration with Veidekke is always good. They have all the expertise we need to carry out such projects, which have very high-quality requirements in all areas. Now we’re looking forward to completing Mariakvartalet together.”

Last month, Veidekke secured a contract with the Swedish Transport Administration for a segment of the Västlänken railway project in Gothenburg.
