University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney has announced that the installation of a new pedestrian bridge between the Wallace Wurth Building and the Health Translation Hub (HTH) has been completed in Australia.

It is expected to physically extend UNSW’s Kensington campus into the Randwick Health Campus.

This development is expected to revolutionise collaboration among the university, public health, and industry partners to enhance healthcare for the community.

In addition, plans are in place to establish a second link that will connect the HTH with the new Sydney Children’s Hospital at various levels.

This expansion is expected to take place over the coming months.

Last year, the university announced the commencement of work on the A$600m ($396.45m) HTH project within the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct.

Set to open in late 2025, the hub aims to unite educational and medical researchers, clinicians, educators, industry partners, and public health officials.

UNSW professor and provost Vlado Perkovic said: “For more than 60 years, UNSW has aspired to integrate health, research and education with our Randwick Health Campus. Together, we can improve the health outcomes of our local and global communities.

“The UNSW Health Translation Hub is a physical manifestation of bringing research and education even closer to patients, and this connection enables UNSW to harness and expand on the best of health education and research from the university.”
