The University of Worcester has unveiled plans for a housing development, proposing the construction of 250 new homes on grassland off Oldbury Road in Dines Green, Worcester.
This development comes after previous plans for student accommodation and a lecture theatre, approved in 2021, saw their planning permission expire in March of this year.
The university is collaborating with professional advisors to advance a residential development proposal for the site. However, it is unclear whether the new proposals will include accommodation specifically for students.
A spokesperson for the University of Worcester said: “The land at Temple Laugherne has previously been identified as being suitable for housing in the South Worcestershire Development Plan and has been subject to previous planning applications for residential development.”
The proposed housing development would be situated adjacent to the planned urban extension of Worcester, which is set to include more than 2,000 homes between the city and Lower Broadheath.
An environmental impact assessment (EIA) screening report has already been submitted to Worcester City Council and Malvern Hills District Council. This submission will be followed by an application for outline planning permission.
