Stantec, a sustainable design and engineering company, has completed the acquisition of England-based integrated engineering design company Hydrock.
The financial terms of the transaction, which closed on 30 April this year, have not been disclosed.
The strategic move will enhance Stantec’s UK workforce by more than 30% and strengthen its market position in the energy, buildings, and infrastructure sectors.
The deal marks a continuation of Stantec’s growth, following a period of both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions.
Hydrock, established in 1995, has a presence across the UK with 22 locations.
The company’s expertise spans building design and performance, fire safety, energy and sustainability, and geotechnical services, among others.
It has served as the lead consultant on the Ashton Moss Innovation Park master plan in Greater Manchester.
The acquisition is expected to enhance Stantec’s ability to undertake transformative projects across various sectors.
Stantec Global executive vice-president and COO Cath Schefer said: “The coming together of Stantec and Hydrock is an ambitious and compatible evolution for both our firms in the UK.
“Hydrock provides us with a highly complementary line of services and expertise which only reinforces our UK offering. Our combined experience, knowledge, and creativity, as well as our shared commitment to create better, more liveable places for people and communities, puts us in an exceptional position to deliver meaningful value for our industry-leading clients.”
Last month, Stantec announced the completion of three airport master plans for the Cayman Islands Airports Authority.
