Finnish developer SRV and the City of Hyvinkää have announced a partnership to construct a multipurpose arena in Hangonsilta, Finland.
The project, valued at approximately €45.6m ($49.3m), will be carried out under a collaborative project management contract, with SRV’s portion ranging from €32m-€40m.
This project will be undertaken as a joint venture between the city and Laurea University of Applied Sciences.
Its construction is set to commence in early 2025 and will be recorded in SRV’s order backlog once construction commences.
The project encompasses the construction of a multipurpose arena designed to host sports and events and will include new facilities for Laurea University of Applied Sciences’ Hyvinkää campus.
Covering approximately 13,000m², the project will see an arena occupy roughly 9,800m² while the educational premises will take up approximately 3,200m². Additional restaurants and other premises are also planned to be built.

By GlobalDataAccording to SRV, the Hyvinkää multipurpose arena is a key investment for the city, aimed at enhancing its event organisation and recreational activities.
The arena will primarily serve as a venue for sports and events, facilitating school sports, hobbies, and competitive sports. It will also function as a sports hall for other schools and daycare centres in the city.
The project will start with a development phase, during which the parties will jointly determine the best implementation solutions to achieve the project’s goals. This phase is expected to last six months, after which more precise cost and schedule details will be established.
The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2026.
SRV Helsinki Metropolitan Area Business Premises unit director Kimmo Hyry said: “We’re very keen to get started on Hyvinkää Arena. We believe that the selected model – a two-phase collaborative project management contract – is ideal for a project such as this with a broad range of user groups and varied needs for space.”
“In recent years, we’ve built several different multipurpose halls, such as a sports hall for Matinkylä High School and the Satama Arena in Kotka, which can also be used for sports events when necessary. Nokia Arena in Tampere is a multipurpose venue that can even serve as a stage for international events. SRV is also developing an arena project in Ratapiha, a brand-new district in Turku.”
In June this year, SRV received a turnkey contract with Patolan Kulma for the construction of a student apartment building in Helsinki.
