Southern Water, a UK-based utility company, has appointed eight companies to its two new capital delivery frameworks.  

The selected partners will undertake projects under either the ‘Strategic Delivery Partner’ for the Asset Management Period 8 or ‘Infrastructure Low Complexity Delivery Route’ frameworks.

The Strategic Delivery Partner framework includes Costain and MWH Treatment (as part of the CMDP+ joint venture), Kier Integrated Services, and Galliford Try Construction. 

These companies will be responsible for major infrastructure projects such as the construction of new pipelines, pumping stations, and upgrades to water supply and wastewater treatment works.  

Kier will provide strategic planning, design, and construction management services across both water and wastewater projects.

Meanwhile, Galliford Try will focus on non-infrastructure wastewater schemes. 

It will offer mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation design and construction management throughout the Southern Water region.  

Morrison Water Services has also been selected for infrastructure works under this framework. 

The Infrastructure Low Complexity Delivery Route framework has been awarded to Clancy Docwra, United Living Infrastructure Services, and Barhale for water-related projects. 

Clancy Docwra, J Browne Construction, and Morrison Utility Services have been commissioned to wastewater projects. 

Southern Water CFO Stuart Ledger said: “This announcement marks an important milestone in our preparation for the next regulatory investment period 2025-30 and beyond.  

“Southern plans to more than double its investment over the next five years to meet the needs of customers and the environment. I am confident that working together with our partners we will fully meet this challenge.”   

The combined value of these frameworks is approximately £3.7bn ($4.79bn). 

The Strategic Delivery Partner framework will include a seven-year term and a five-year term for the Low Complexity Delivery Route framework, both with extension options. 

In June this year, CMDP secured multiple contracts with Southern Water, valued at £65m, as part of the latter’s AMP7 investment programme.
