Skanska has secured the final award from SBMT Asset for the upgrade of the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal in New York, US.
The $612m contract will be included in the company’s US order bookings for the second quarter (Q2) of this year.
This project is expected to transform the terminal into one of the largest dedicated offshore wind ports in the country and support the Empire Wind project being developed by Equinor off the coast of New York.
The upgrade encompasses the demolition of existing structures, dredging of berths, enhancements to the bulkhead, and the installation of new wharf and dock facilities.
It also includes infrastructure improvements, the construction of heavy lift crane pads, an offshore wind staging area, and a new operations and maintenance building.
Prior commitments and long lead items for this project have already amounted to $249m.
