Skanska has secured a contract from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for building a new highway outside Oslo, Norway.

The contract is worth $320m(NOK2.9bn), which will be recorded in the Nordic order bookings by Skanska in Q2 of this year.

Construction will commence in June this year and is anticipated to be finished during 2028.

The project involves building 2km of six lane highway between Ramstadsletta and Strand, including 1.3km of the new Høviktunnel outside Oslo.

It also includes changes to in the surrounding road system, including building a new bridge and retentive walls.

For required protection of environment aspects in the project, Skanska will certify the work according to CEEQUAL.

CEEQUAL is a globally recognised certification standard for infrastructure.

The contract is part of the key project E18 Western Corridor.

Project E18 Western Corridor features a new main highway system between Lysaker in Bærum and Drengsrud in Asker municipality.

The new E18 will replace a busy road in Norway that is marked by traffic problems, poor convenience for public transport, and widespread noise and air pollution.

Last month, Skanska secured a contract with Trondheim Postgård, owned by Reitan, to construct a new theatre and museum in Trondheim, Norway.

The contract is worth $44.71m (NOK410m), which will be included by Skanska in the Nordic order bookings for Q2 of this year.

The project is named Nye Hjorten Teater & Posten Modern Museum.

Since last January, the company has been working in close collaboration with the clients, architects, and consultants in the development phase of the theatre and museum project.
