Skanska has secured a contract from the North Carolina Department of Transportation to rebuild the Lindsay C. Warren Bridge in Columbia, North Carolina, US.

The contract, valued at $450m, will be included in the company’s US order bookings for the first quarter of this year.

The new high-rise, fixed-span bridge will be built to the north of the existing 4.5km bridge, providing a vital link for the eastern counties of North Carolina.

Designed to facilitate the uninterrupted flow of both marine and vehicular traffic, the bridge will include two travel lanes, breakdown lanes on either side, ample clearance over the navigation channel, and safety railings, thereby eliminating mechanical delays and disruptions for travellers.

Construction work is scheduled to start this month, with an expected completion date in April 2030.

Skanska has a workforce of approximately 27,000 and operates in select markets across Europe, the Nordics, and the US.
