Multinational development and construction company Skanska has secured an additional contract with the University of Cincinnati (UC) in the US state of Ohio.

The UC is a public research university with an enrolment of approximately 48,000 students.

This new contract is valued at $94m and will be added to the company’s US order bookings for the first quarter of this year.

The project involves the renovation and addition of a building on the university’s campus.

The company previously secured a $67m contract for this project in June 2022.

The latest contract will see renovation work covering 6,100m².

It will create new offices, engineering research labs, and classrooms, as well as areas designed for collaboration.

In addition, the project includes an approximately 13,400m² addition that will house open-bay chemistry research laboratories.

The development is part of a series of major capital projects aimed at enhancing the university’s facilities.

Construction work commenced in 2023, with the project set to reach phased occupancy beginning in August 2025.

Last month, Skanska signed a Skr340m ($33.5m) agreement for the development of a residential block and commercial premises at the Masthuggskajen mixed-use neighbourhood in Gothenburg, Sweden.
