Saint-Gobain, through its subsidiary CertainTeed Canada, has announced plans to acquire Canadian manufacturer Bailey Group.
Bailey produces commercial metal framing and building systems.
The transaction, which will be fully financed in cash, is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close in the second half (H2) of this year.
This move is expected to broaden Saint-Gobain’s global product range and bolster its position in light and sustainable construction.
Saint-Gobain Canada CEO Julie Bonamy said: “As Saint-Gobain’s growth journey in Canada continues, I can think of no better partner than The Bailey Group of Companies.
“With their longstanding expertise in metal framing and building solutions, we will take a significant step forward in our vision to provide a comprehensive portfolio of building materials to our customers.”

By GlobalDataBailey’s products will join Saint-Gobain’s offerings for both interior and exterior solutions.
With the addition of Bailey’s 12 manufacturing sites and approximately 690 employees, Saint-Gobain’s presence in Canada is anticipated to be strengthened.
The acquisition will include all divisions of Bailey Group – Bailey Metal Products, Bailey Metal Processing, and Agway Metals.
It will also see Saint-Gobain complete the purchase of the remaining equity and assets of The Grid Company, a ceiling grid manufacturing joint venture with Bailey.
The acquisition is expected to add more than C$500m ($370.33m) in revenues, improving CertainTeed’s established position in the Canadian market.
The latest announcement comes after Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals entered two partnerships to boost low-carbon technologies last month.
