The SAH-SML joint venture (JV) has been awarded a contract for the development of the Oman Cultural Complex project in Muscat for its government client, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The SAH-SML JV was formed between Oman-based construction company Saif Salim Essa Al Harasi (SAH) and Turkey-based contractor Sembol Construction (SML).
The scope of the project includes the design and construction of the Oman Cultural Complex and related works.
The estimated value of this contract is OR147.8m, reported the Oman Daily Observer.
This project has been assigned a plot of land in Airport Heights that begins near the Ministry of Labour and extends northwards.
The Oman Cultural Complex project has a built-up area of 75,000m² and will be known as the new cultural district in Muscat.

The Oman National Theatre will comprise a 1,000-seat auditorium and a 250-seat flexible auditorium, the 20,000m² five-storey National Library and the National Archives with ample archive shelf space.
Other facilities in the complex include an exhibition and cultural centre, and a movie theatre.

This landmark initiative seamlessly melds Oman’s rich cultural heritage with state-of-the-art design.

The strategic partnership with Sembol Construction significantly enhances our capabilities, ensuring the delivery of a cultural masterpiece that authentically represents Oman’s unique identity and promising future.”
Construction work on the project is scheduled to begin by November 2023 and be completed in early 2027.
