Raubex Construction has been awarded a contract by the Government of Western Australia (WA) for the upgrade of an intersection in Perth.
The project, which aims to ease the traffic flow and improve safety, will focus on delivering significant improvements at the intersection of Scarborough Beach Road and Green Street.

Works under this initiative mainly include the development of a new dual-lane roundabout and pedestrian crossings.
Once constructed, the new roundabout and pedestrian crossings will replace the current two-stage road crossing at the intersection.
This is expected to significantly reduce congestion and enhance safety for all road users.
Additionally, a new shared path will be created to improve access for the many path users travelling between the Glendalough train station and the local business district.

A panel of expert road designers evaluated multiple options to finalise and develop solutions for the intersection.
WA Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said: “The award of this contract is a major step forward in improving this notorious intersection and delivering on another election commitment of our government.
“People that use this intersection know how busy and challenging it can be, which is why we are making a significant investment to improve things for all road users.
“While the project will deliver significant benefits, there will be some disruption, so we want to thank people for their patience while the works are underway.”
According to the WA Government, service relocation-related works are already in progress and will continue throughout the construction phase.
The primary construction work is expected to commence later this year in November.
Perth legislative assembly member John Carey said: “The state government has worked through an exhaustive community consultation process to ensure this intersection is made safer for motorists and pedestrians.
“The final design of the new roundabout is focused on improving road safety and reducing car accidents, from its current design.”
