Plans for a new £275m low-carbon mixed-use development have been submitted to West Lothian Council, in Scotland.

The 108-hectare development, named Drumshoreland Garden Community, will be constructed on the site of the current Clapperton poultry farm complex, located east of Livingston.

Owned by Amber REI (Agriculture), subsidiary of Amber REI, the site is part of the Scottish poultry supply chain and currently comprises ageing poultry sheds and surplus land.

The development will include an open market and affordable housing, employment, educational and other community facilities.

It will be located within a new parkland setting, which includes 19.9 hectares of woodland being given over to public access.

It is noted that two applications for planning permission in principle (PPiP), one covering the wider site and the other covering an area of land located within the wider site, have been submitted to West Lothian Council with an aim to establish the principle of development on the site.

Approximately 1,800 homes, which include 25% affordable homes, are proposed as part of Drumshoreland Garden Community and will be brought forward by Elan Homes (Scotland), a sister company of Amber REI.
