Real estate developer Court Collaboration has secured planning approval from the Birmingham City Council in the UK for its proposed Stone Yard, a £280m residential development scheme.

The scheme involves construction of seven separate buildings with a mix of one and two-bedroom properties in Digbeth.

Located close to the Brindleyplace and the Jewellery Quarter, the Stone Yard project is expected to transform the former Peugeot showroom site to deliver a total of 995 new apartments.

The scheme will feature approximately 30,000ft2 of commercial space, as well as co-working space to support entrepreneurs and SMEs. It will also comprise a facility for the Irish community.

Court Collaboration managing director Alex Neale said: “As well as delivering additional high-quality apartments, the scheme will provide flexible commercial space which has been specially designed to suit of wide range of business and leisure uses.

“The Stone Yard will be a fantastic addition to Digbeth and will further open up the area, forming a critical part of the city’s economic recovery strategy following the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Construction on the scheme is planned to commence during the first quarter of 2021.

The scheme is located 15 minutes from the new HS2 Curzon Street Station and less than 20 minutes from the Bullring & Grand Central Station.

Last year, Court Collaboration secured the green light from the Birmingham City Council’s planning committee for its £160m One Eastside residential project.

The 51-storey skyscraper will include 667 one- and two-bedroom apartments delivered across the main tower while the 15-storey building will feature a range of retail and leisure facilities.
