Planning approval has been granted for 188 new council homes as part of the redevelopment of the New Park Village estate in Wolverhampton, UK.
The redevelopment will involve the demolition of 205 outdated properties and replacing them with 188 energy-efficient homes.
The project will see the demolition of deck access maisonettes at Ellerton Walk and bungalows on Valley Road and Shawbury Road.
These will be replaced with two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes for rent.
Additional improvements include increased car parking and enhanced public spaces, featuring a children’s play area, green gym, and seating areas.
City of Wolverhampton Council deputy leader and cabinet member for City Housing Steve Evans said: “We are continuing to invest heavily in new and replacement council housing and this scheme will make a major difference to the residents of New Park Village.

Phase one of the master plan will deliver 98 new homes while phase two will add 83 properties.
A site on Longford Road is designated for seven bungalows.
DSM Demolition has been appointed to commence demolition in January 2025, focusing initially on the 1960s maisonettes within eight linked deck access blocks.
Keon Homes has been selected as the construction partner through the council’s new development framework.
Development of the new homes is scheduled to begin in mid-2025 after the completion of phase-one demolition works, expected to take around six months.
The £40m ($50.60m) programme will be funded from the council’s Housing Revenue Account capital budget. The redevelopment scheme is phased over several years to minimise disruption to residents.
