UK-based property management, development, and regeneration company Places for People has announced a four-year investment plan to renovate thousands of homes across England and Scotland.
The £104m ($134m) investment initiative will be carried out within a new strategic framework, for which the business has chosen five regional contractors to work across selected regions.
Bell Group has been hired in Scotland, with Novus Property Solutions in the South East and MD Group in the South West of that country. Meanwhile, Wates and Connolly have been chosen in the North East, North West, and central portions of England.
This allows the initiative to be implemented at a far lower cost, with total savings of £2.46m this year that can then be reinvested in communities.
Places for People director Mark Arnold said: “We call ourselves the UK’s leading social enterprise, and our new major works investment programme and contractor framework is the embodiment of that.
“A departure from fragmented, inefficient relationships of old, it allows us to deliver works at scale – delivering upgrades that help customers combat prevalent macroeconomic challenges like energy prices, while also contributing to opportunities within their local community.”
