Nordic community builder Peab has secured a turnkey contract to build a new swimming pool facility in Leknes, Norway.
Awarded by Vestvågøy Municipality, the contract is valued at Nkr262m ($25.08m).
Vestvågøy Municipality project manager Ove Berg said: “The new swimming pool facility will be a community arena with special offers, activities and recreation opportunities for people of all ages.
“It will be a central meeting place for the benefit of everyone in the municipality and we look forward to continuing to work with Peab.”
The project will include reconstructing the existing 2,300m² building and adding 2,500m² of area.
The added space will house a competition pool, slide, training and therapy pool, diving tower, and wellness area encompassing a whirlpool bath, cold pool, and sauna.

By GlobalDataAdditionally, a new cloakroom and lobby will be added to the original 1974 building.
Construction is expected to commence soon, with completion of the project set for December 2025.
The company will register the order in the fourth quarter of this year.
Peab district manager Trygve Nilsen said: “We’re very happy to build this swimming pool facility.
“It will contribute to the quality of life of Vestvågøy residents and at the same time have a ripple effect on other industries in the municipality.”
Last week, Peab received a turnkey contract to rebuild E22 Interchange, Lund Södra, and Road 108 in Sweden.
The Swedish Transport Administration commissioned Peab for this contract worth Skr533m.
