Peab, a Nordic construction company, has received two new contracts in Finland and Sweden, respectively.

The first contract, valued at €11m ($11.42m), involves constructing a new industrial production facility in Jyväskylä, Finland, for real estate developer Jykia.

Norwegian aerospace and defence company Nammo Lapua will use this facility, spanning roughly 7,300m², for artillery manufacturing.

The project is scheduled to commence in January 2025 and be completed by the end of the same year.

Peab Finland regional manager Matti Joensuu said: “We’re very happy about the contract with Jykia. We’re bringing our experience and expertise in project management construction contracts with us into this exciting project in the defence industry.”

In Sweden, meanwhile, Peab has been tasked with expanding and rebuilding underground pipelines from the Lule River to Boden’s new industrial area, Boden Industrial Park.

The contract, awarded by Boden Municipality, is worth Skr276m.

This project includes the construction of a new pump station at the Lule River, downstream from the Bodsvedjan Wastewater Treatment Plant, and laying down pipes for technical water to Boden Industrial Park.

It supports investments in the green industry in northern Sweden and the development of the new industrial park.

The latest turnkey contract follows an initial phase, where the company worked with the customer to optimise the product, ensuring quality and risk management.

Construction work on the project begins this month, with completion also expected by the end of 2025.

Peab regional manager Hans Boija said: “I’m proud that we at Peab, with our cutting-edge expertise in this area, can contribute to the green industry’s transition in the north. We’ve planned the work that is now moving into the next phase, which is the actual execution.”

Both projects will be included in Peab’s order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2024.

Last month, Peab secured a contract from Trollhättan Energi to construct the new Överby waterworks in Trollhättan, Västra Götaland County, Sweden.
