Nordic company Peab has been tasked with the renovation of Lunden School, a project commissioned by the Gothenburg City Property Administration in Sweden.
The contract for the turnkey project is valued at Skr275m ($25.4m).
Lunden School, catering to 660 students across various grades, along with a primary school for 50 students with special needs, will see changes in eight main sections.
This includes the construction of a new building for grades four to six, featuring a cafeteria, library, and commercial kitchen.
The renovation will also encompass the modification of the existing building for grades seven to nine, expansion of the student café and offices, and more.
Maintenance will be carried out on all existing buildings, with facade renovations and window replacements on two structures.

By GlobalDataThe schoolyard will be redesigned to accommodate different age groups, ensuring that the school remains operational throughout the construction period with phased evacuations.
The school’s buildings, dating from 1914 to 1946, are protected under Gothenburg’s conservation programme, necessitating a focus on reuse during construction.
Work on the project is set to commence immediately, with completion expected in early 2027. This order will be registered by Peab in the first quarter of 2025.
Peab region manager Stellan Haraldsson said: “We’re happy and proud to continue being a part of the community development of Gothenburg. We have extensive experience in building schools and look forward to start building together with Gothenburg’s City Property Administration.”
Earlier this month, Peab secured a Nkr113m contract for the expansion of Skjetten Elementary School in Lillestrøm, Norway.
