Nordic community builder Peab has received a turnkey contract to rebuild E22 Interchange, Lund Södra, and Road 108 in Sweden.
The Swedish Transport Administration has commissioned Peab for this contract, which is valued at Skr533m ($52.02m).

The E22 and Road 108 between Staffanstorp and Lund experience heavy traffic, with more than 50,000 vehicles passing through daily. This causes congestion on the off-ramps during peak hours, with queues backing onto E22.
Swedish Transport Administration project manager Katja Phelan said: “Better traffic safety and passability for mass transit, commuters and business transportation.
“These are gains that will be made when the Swedish Transport Administration rebuilds E22 Interchange Lund Södra and Road 108 between Staffanstorp and Lund.”
Under the contract, Interchange Lund Södra will undergo reconstruction, featuring new roundabouts and cloverleaf off-ramps. All the existing bridges will also be replaced.

By GlobalDataRoad 108 will be expanded to 2+2 lanes with a central guardrail, along with bridges for separated intersections and paths for bicycles and pedestrians.
This redesign aims to enhance safety and increase capacity for handling high vehicle volumes, enabling mass transit, work commuting, and freight forwarding.
E22 will mostly remain open, except for occasional weekend closures.
Construction is scheduled to commence in February 2024, with completion anticipated in December 2026.
Peab region manager Göran Wiking said: “We’re taking on a large and complex project here and it suits us. The challenge will be to disrupt traffic as little as possible.
“As part of our strategy to meet the climate high demands, we’ll be using ECO-Betong (ECO-Concrete) and ECO-Asfalt in the project.”
The company will register the order in the fourth quarter of this year.
Last week, Peab was awarded a contract for the construction of adapted housing and a daytime activity centre in Harstad, Norway.
