Peab has secured the contract to construct Gothenburg’s new station building, which will serve as the main entrance to new city district Centralstaden in Sweden. 

Valued at approximately Skr87m ($83.19m), the turnkey contract in partnering form has been commissioned by Jernhusen.

The project is said to become the largest of the three entrances for the West Link station Centralen. 

Gothenburg Grand Central will be a 15,000m² structure with a 100% recycled brick facade.  

Its design includes spacious interiors and multiple entry points.

The project plans to use wood for the building’s frame and joists, and ECO-Concrete, recycled steel, and other low-impact materials throughout the construction process.  

The complete structure is anticipated to be finalised in the first half (H1) of 2027.  

Peab will officially register the project in Q3 2024.

Earlier this month, Peab was awarded a contract worth Skr299m to refurbish the North Danvik Bridge in Stockholm, Sweden’s capital.
