Peab has received a Skr335m ($30.32m) contract from energy firm Eskilstuna Energi och Miljö to construct a new pump station with pressure lines for the Ekeby wastewater treatment plant in Eskilstuna, Sweden.
This upgrade will replace the existing wastewater pump station with a new building, new pumps, and new pipelines.
The refurbishment of the Ekeby wastewater treatment plant is set to enhance the local infrastructure by reducing water shut-offs and the risk of basement flooding, facilitating Eskilstuna’s eastern expansion.
The project, which is claimed as the largest for Eskilstuna Energi och Miljö to date, will involve replacing both the outgoing pipeline from the pump station to the treatment plant and the water and wastewater pipelines in Rinmansgatan.
Peab’s work on this turnkey contract will be carried out in stages, ensuring maximized construction and minimal disruption.
The project follows a phase one contract completed in 2023, where Peab collaborated with Eskilstuna Energi och Miljö to optimise the project’s design and manage risks.
